So in order to have a successful blog, I need a quirky blog name. Right now, I am "The better life for Dummies, written by Dummies". It's not quite right. Its too wordy and there's no double entendre or inside joke. After looking at other blogs, these seem to be the key to a good blog name. Although I do like the title of Chief Dummy.

I will keep working on it.

I am also not convinced of my template for this blog. These orange swirly things seem quirky enough. But it's not as artsy as I envisioned. Not sure how to get around the few choices through Blogger. I did like one with a picture of a chair and some pictures on the wall. But its just seemed too weird. And pointless.  Again, working on it.

And now, like the rest of my life, someone is yelling at me about doing something other then what I want to do. And so it ends.

Dummy leading the dummies

So I have decided to blog again. I did the whole mommy blog thing here. I failed at the whole mommy blog thing a second time round here. And now that I have two kids and limited poop, barf or urine stories, I have to write about something else.

I read a lot of blogs now. All fairly successful bloggers, like the kind who now stay home and write witty repartee for a living. A lot of them are crafters or bakers or photographers. And I am none of these things. But I look at these blogs with such envy. Not for the whole make a lot of money thing. I mean I live pretty successfully so far. I am blessed with being able to raise money for worthwhile causes and make a difference every day. I am pretty fulfilled that way. Oh and I love my kids and stuff. And by stuff I mean husband.

But these bloggers lives are filled with creativity. I mean, I have a bachelor of Fine Arts for christ sakes and all I can manage is making puff ball chicken crafts with my son. It involves glueing on goggly eyes. Not particularly fulfilling. Sorry Owen. And the makers of the chicken puff ball craft.

So if I have no real talent, no real gift for creating (my BFA is in theatre after all) what on earth can I write about?

For sometime I have struggled with balancing my life, my kids and my work. Oh and my husband falls in there at the bottom of the list. I wish I did more with my life than just chores, cooking chicken nuggets, entertaining the midgets in my life and then vegging in front of the television for yet another mindless reality show and then going to sleep.

I wish I was creating dresses over night out of fabulous vintage fabric. And baking beautiful cupcakes with little effort (or dishes). I wish my house was filled with repurposed and refinished furniture. I wish I was feeding my kids organic barley cakes and could rid my kitchen of processed food. Which is so darn tasty.

And I figured, well I only get one shot. No point waiting till retirement to do the fun stuff. And although my version may not look as pretty or be as ironed or as tastily baked as others, at least I could try. And maybe others will feel a little less crappy about their lives or shortcomings.

So I put together a list of the things I want to do more of and hope that this blog will encourage/motivate me to complete some of them. And make me a millionaire.

I plan to tackle crafts and cooking yummy meals and baking tasty treats for me to consume (thats a whole other post) and sharing my discoveries/failures with whom ever reads. Maybe it will even be a better life for dummies written by dummies. And I am sure my kids will creep in there somewhere since they tend to get in the way of most things I try to do.

For the first little bit, I need to work out where my priorities are. But I do in fact have two projects under way. Those will be posted soon-ish.

Hopefully I don't fail at this blog/life.

Maybe I won't tell anyone about it till I get a few triumphs under my belt.
